PIA upgrade
Ibanez RG upgrade to PIA
This project started when I got bored and was thinking of selling this RG Ibanez guitar. Then I got this crazy Idea of “why not have fun and try to upgrade the look of it”.
before I got to crazy I decided to take some notes and see how this model was wired and setup…
I like to take picture so I can always refer to later…
taking notes of the wiring is always a good Idea.
at the risk of repeating myself … a good temple is always nice to refer to
after calculating the holes and making them on my template, I then started cutting them out.
here’s a first view of the holes
love the drummel because the can reach just about any where…
then I sanded the wholes body before painting it
got this white paint for the body
sanded and painted the bridge, volume nobs and PU gold
figured out and made the pick guard template
got some logos on the head stock
came out pretty good
after cutting out the PUs I taped and routered the pearl white pick guard with the template
the result was very nice
I didn’t like the old pots so I replaces them.
here is the look before I tried some fret board design
after trying out some sort of fret board design this is the result. I love the looks but I’m thinking of something different for the fret board. I was not satisfied with the fret board design test I made, to be followed….
