Resonator Guitar

Resonator 1930’s woody style

parlor size 22″ scale. Talk about some new and different sound…. here we go. It’s just the instrument I was working up too, with all the technics I used on the other first 6 instrument.

I first made my template and then I made the mold form for the parlor size body.

Bent and shaped the sides

Cut out the neck and prepared it for the shaping.

Glued the back and sides after gluing the kerfing.

Made the maple ring for the cone with the router.

Testing the alignment

Installed the double truss rod.

Shaped the fret board after cutting the fret position.

Decided to go for the pearl sides to make it nicer.

Shaping the neck.

I thought the trapezoid shape inlay looked cool. More work but really worth it.

finishing up the fret board.

Making the headstock for the tuner keys.

I added a preamp and tuner specially for the tuning part.

Routed the hole for the cone.

Testing the cone

lining up test

gluing the ring in place

here is where my wife paint the final touches.

(she’s the best)

Finished the paint effects.

There it is. My woody 1930’s Resonator Guitar.
