Tenor Ukulele

Tenor Ukulele

27″ scale and arched top

This Tenor Ukulele idea came after building the first 2 soprano ukulele. I wanted a deeper sound ukulele but with a special arch top. I had to put this project aside until I got the right wood and tools to make it. It was worth the waite.

since the strings are nylon there is no need for a truss rod. And I was going to paint the whole body as I could glue the parts to get the thickness I needed

created the neck and got the tuner keys installed

to make this acoustic body I made some forms to bend and shape the sides

after laying my 3/32″ maple sides in worm water I was able to bend then and shape them with my forms

then I glued the head and tail inside the body

cut the neck tongue and body groove

made some mahogany kerfings and shaped them before gluing them

glued the kerfing

here starts the fun part, getting the top arch done with a very limited selection of tool…

after sanding the top form them I did the inside to the best 3/32″ thickness I could do

nice dry test

after marking and cutting the fret position I glued the fret board to the neck

drilled and filled the markers on the fret board with white epoxy

installed the tuner keys again cause I used the other on an other instrument, these ones are nicer…

made the maple bridge

stained the fret board

glued the neck to the body

made and glued the reinforced pieces inside

glued the top cover to the body

after painting the whole ukulele and making the black binding effect here is the final result. I am very happy with the sound but also with the playing( fingers have more space). thanks

hope u enjoyed
